It is in a bid to transport the passengers left stranded at Krasnoyarsk International Airport in Russia but headed to the United States to continue with their journey; Air India, in a bid described as the quickest response ever, has arranged a relief flight.
This comes a week after a San Francisco-bound Air India flight from Delhi had to be redirected to Russia due to what the authorities suspected to be a problem in the cargo hold area.
The relief flight left Mumbai and, as per the schedule, will land at Krasnoyarsk at 8 p.m. today. Crew and security personnel from the Air India side are on board the flight and ready to assist the passengers and staff at the airport if required.
The airline has argued that the ferry flight carries some necessities and adequate food for all the passengers. Regarding the personnel, the aircraft will take all the passengers and crew out of Krasnoyarsk as soon as possible. The related kin of the stranded passengers, too, have contact numbers that have been released by Air India.
Meanwhile, one of the passengers, through his Twitter handle, has vehemently disputed these airline claims, saying he has not been given any food, information, or update. The passenger even stated he was “stranded at the airport” with no help from the authorities.
The occurrence happened barely a month after an Air India flight headed to London was reported to have received bomb threats, culminating in the supposed culprit’s apprehension. The airline’s prompt response to organize the relief flight and the current situation at Krasnoyarsk airport have made the passengers and their families anxious.
Thus, while Air India is performing the challenging task of evacuating all the stranded passengers, their need for assistance during such a difficult time is the main subject.
