The company spokesperson stated full refunds on cancellations and free rescheduling are being provided to travelers if chosen by them. An Air India flight between Chicago and Delhi flew back to the US city after being airborne for over a decade on Thursday, with the airline stating that the flight went back due to a technical snag.
However, a source privy to the development informed PTI that the plane had to be returned because most of the lavatories were blocked. The flight was flown on a Boeing 777-337 ER plane and returned to Chicago ORD airport after being airborne for more than ten hours, as per data available on flight tracking website flightradar24.com.
There are 10 toilets, two of them for first-class passengers, in the Boeing 777-300 ER flight operated by Air India and with barely more than 340 seats, comprising first, business and economy class seats, the source added.
On being contacted for comments, an Air India spokesperson stated that AI126 flying from Chicago to Delhi on March 6 returned to Chicago due to a technical fault.
“After landing in Chicago, all passengers and crew members alighted as usual and have been arranged accommodation to reduce inconvenience. Arrangements are being made to fly the passengers to their destination otherwise,” the spokesperson stated in a release.
The spokesperson added that cancellation refunds are full and free rescheduling is also being provided to passengers if so desired.
