Air India has decided to suspend its flights to and from Tel Aviv until April 30 amidst escalating tensions in the Middle East. The airline, which operates four weekly flights between the Indian capital and the Israeli city, announced in response to the volatile situation in the region.
An official spokesperson for Air India stated that the decision to suspend flights was taken in light of the emerging circumstances in the Middle East, and the airline will continue to monitor the situation closely. Passengers who confirmed bookings for travel to and from Tel Aviv during this period are offered a one-time waiver on rescheduling and cancellation charges.
This is not the first time Air India has suspended flights to Tel Aviv. The carrier had previously suspended services to the Israeli city starting from October 7, 2023, following an attack by the Hamas group. Flights had only recently resumed on March 3, after a nearly five-month hiatus.
Tensions in the Middle East have intensified recently, with Iran launching attacks on Israel and subsequent retaliatory responses. As the situation remains volatile, Air India has taken this precaution to ensure its passengers’ and crew’s safety and well-being.
