The chief of Samajwadi Party SP has called for an immediate handover of Maha Kumbh Mela administration and management to the Indian Army stating loss of faith in the Uttar Pradesh Government over the event’s management after a stampede-like situation marred Maha Kumbh at Prayagraj early today morning.
Yadav made a strongly worded post on X criticizing the state government, which he believes has failed in its promise to provide a “world-class system,” which was exposed by this incident. He also demanded moral responsibility from the people responsible for the mismanagement of the whole situation and to resign from their positions.
To re-instil faith in the system among the saint community and devotees who have come to the Maha Kumbh, the administration and management of the Maha Kumbh must be immediately handed over to the Army instead of the UP government and administration,” the SP chief said in the post.
“Now that the truth behind the claims of ‘world-class system’ has been exposed, those who were making these claims and spreading false propaganda should take moral responsibility for the people killed in this accident and resign from their posts,” he added. Earlier in a post on X, Akhilesh Yadav said the news of casualties of devotees is extremely sad.
