Akhilesh Yadav: ‘Batenge to Katenge’ highlights government weakness

The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav, attacked the BJP’s ” batting to kitenge” slogan and said it reflected the government’s weakness and failure to save people.

On Tuesday, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s slogan for Hindus—”batting to kitenge “—made it clear that the government is weak.

“With this slogan, the Yogi Adityanath government has shown that it is weak and cannot protect the people,” said Akhilesh Yadav.

Referring to Yogi Adityanath, Akhilesh Yadav said the slogan was delivered by the most suitable candidate for the BJP.

“The slogan was prepared in a lab and then was sent to the most suitable leader to disseminate. Now, the slogan is being spread in many places. This is being done to hide the government’s failures,” Yadav said.

The ‘batting to kitenge’ slogan, which Yogi Adityanath used in Agra to describe the Bangladesh riots, was also used in Haryana before the assembly polls this year.

Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said the decision for the Samajwadi Party to contest all nine seats in the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh byelections was taken after consultation with senior Congress leaders.

He denied reports of a rift with INDIA partner Congress over SP contesting all seats as part of the alliance’s strategy.

Addressing ABP Shikhar Sammelan in Lucknow on Tuesday, Akhilesh Yadav said that the Congress’s strength will support the Samajwadi Party during the campaigns.

“We have even received an itinerary from the Congress for the joint campaigns,” he said. However, he avoided a direct answer on whether Rahul Gandhi will campaign with him for SP, saying: “

There are multiple elections in the country. Any leader coming to UP during the campaign period will join us,” the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said.
