Amit Shah assumes charge of Home Cooperation Ministries.
On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah took charge of the Home and Cooperation Ministries for a second term. In a social media post, Shah stated that under PM Modi’s leadership, MHA would remain committed to national security as in the past. “Modi 3.0 will take efforts to the next level, making India a bulwark against terrorism, insurgency, and naxalism,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Shah paid tributes at the National Police Memorial, honoring security personnel martyred while safeguarding the nation.
The two-time MP has held the Cooperation portfolio since its creation in July 2021. On plans, Shah said groundwork on policies will be the priority in the next five years.
A 100-day development program is slated for roll-out in the cooperative sector. Over 70 initiatives have been shortlisted for the sector in the coming period, focusing on modernizing cooperative banks and agricultural credit societies.
Shah first held the Home Ministry in the previous government and is credited for pivotal policies on national security, managing insurgencies, and addressing left-wing extremism threats facing India.
His reappointment signals a continuity of measures undertaken and an intent to strengthen internal security even more robustly in Prime Minister Modi’s second consecutive term.
