Outgoing Union Home Minister Amit Shah underscored that cybersecurity is one of the foundations for the country’s progress in today’s world and thus is a part of security. Addressing the function on the foundation day of the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), Shah said that cybercrime does not respect borders, so there must be integration with other countries to deal with the threat.
When asked about the government’s approach to improving cybersecurity, Shah said,
“Cybersecurity is crucial for a country’s security, without which development cannot occur. ”
In line with the government’s call for action, efforts are being made to build and equip 5000 cyber commandos in the next five years to respond to cyber crimes in the Indian context. Shah explained the importance of making cyberspace more secure, which revealed shocking statistics: India accounted for 46% of the total online transactions globally.
In a drive to enhance the fight against cybercrime, Shah launched four brand-new platforms under the I4C. The major aim of these strategies is to create a coordination center at the national level that will deal with all aspects of cybercrime.
Another duty of the I4C is to increase the police’s capability and improve cooperation between the various stakeholders involved in the fight against cybercrime in the country.
