Amit Shah chairs high-level meet to bolster J&K security

Following the recent incidents of terror attacks in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting in response to the situation, which was a security meeting to discuss the preparations for the Amarnath Yatra.

The UT’s current situation was presented to Shah, including heightened operations by security forces against terrorists. He also urged the field agencies to ensure the successful implementation of Area Domination and Zero Terror plans in Jammu and mentioned that the fight against terrorism is in the ‘final phase.

The Home Minister underlined the importance of Inter-agency cooperation and asked them to shift attention to vulnerability assessment to identify threats to sensitive facilities.

He pointed to the approaches of the government to fight the terrorists and mentioned that the government is using unique and unconventional ways of going after terrorists these days.

Modifications like RFID cards to track the locations of the Yatra groups and insurance facilities to cover the risk factors involved in the Yatra are the two major planning strategies that the government has undertaken to manage the challenges of the Amarnath Yatra. Shah also focused more on making possible the arrangement and enhanced security of the ways that pilgrims travel.

The formulation of a high-level meeting and security measures depicts the government’s stand and willingness to ensure the cease of terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, despite the region being sensitive, continually under terror threats from Teachers’ Organizations and ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit to and subsequent elections in the region.
