Shah compares the Modi government’s decade with the previous UPA regime
On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the Modi government’s progress in the last 10 years must be measured against the performance of the previous UPA administration over the same period.
Addressing an event in Mumbai, Shah noted that before 2014, India struggled with a fragile economy, high inflation, and a lack of fiscal control. However, he added that the country has now emerged as a policy-driven state under PM Modi’s visionary leadership.
The Home Minister further said the BJP is preparing to seek voters’ mandate in the upcoming general elections while highlighting its development agenda over the past decade and its roadmap for the next 25 years.
Praising PM Modi as a dynamic leader, Shah stated that by 2047, on the 100th anniversary of independence, India will be a completely developed, self-reliant, and one of the top three economies globally.
He argued the nation has transformed from a dormant to a dynamic governance model and from regressive to progressive growth under the current regime.
“One cannot understand the progress without knowing how deep the problems were earlier. Inflation had touched double digits under UPA compared to below 5% now. The previous regime also saw scams worth Rs 12 lakh crore that shook people’s trust,” Shah remarked.
The senior BJP leader further alleged that crony capitalism prevailed during the Congress-led alliance’s tenure, implying a significant economic turnaround in the last decade.
