Anantnag encounter: Two soldiers killed, civilians injured in anti-terror op

Unfortunately, again, in a sad saga, the beautiful region of Anantnag, Jammu, and Kashmir became the epicenter of a very intense gun battle between the security forces and terrorists. The confrontation that happened in the district of Ahlan Gadole this afternoon brought the death of two courageous soldiers, and one soldier and two civilians were wounded in the shooting.

The police said that the event started when the terrorists attacked a routine army patrol while the patrol was conducting anti-terrorism operations in the forested area of the Kokernag subdivision. The security forces that involved the specialized Paratroopers from the territory’s army quickly engaged in the attack, and this transpired to be a shootout.

‘’Two civilians have also been reported injured on account of irresponsible, frantic and reckless firing by terrorists during the operation and have been given first aid and shifted more; operations are continuing,” said the Indian Army Chinar Corps in a post on X.

This new confrontation shows the permanence of the intimidation by terrorist factors in the area at issue. In September 2023, a similar operation in the Kokernag forest led to the unfortunate killing of a Commanding Officer, a Major, and a Dy SP.

This operation goes on, and the people of Anantnag and its neighboring areas are on their toes, with security forces ready to eliminate the terrorists and bring a respite to the region. The people of the nation pay their respect to the heroes who were killed in action, while most authorities promise that they will do everything possible to punish the perpetrators.
