Anti-infiltration operation ‘Bajrang’ launched in Jammu and Kashmir

Army foils infiltration bid near LoC in Uri, one terrorist killed.

The Indian Army has claimed eliminating one terrorist in an ongoing counter-infiltration operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir‘s Baramulla district.

Codenamed ‘Bajrang’, the operation was launched on June 22 following input of suspicious cross-border movement in the Gohallan area, officials said on Saturday.

On being challenged, the militants opened fire prompting retaliation from security forces. The identity of the lone slain terrorist is being ascertained.

In a Twitter update, Chinar Corps stated the operation continues as the situation develops. The region is sensitive to frequent infiltration bids, underscoring security challenges.

Earlier this week, two LeT-linked Pakistani terrorists were neutralized in an encounter at Hadipura village in Rafiabad. The duo Usman and Umar was trapped in a cordoned house following Rafiabad police input.

Brigadier Deepak Mohan had termed it a major success for forces. With the ongoing Uri operation, the security establishment aims to strengthen anti-terrorism operations along the border further.
