Kejriwal announces resignation as Delhi CM, says will seek public mandate.
AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal today declared his resignation as Delhi Chief Minister in two days. Kejriwal told a party meeting he will not occupy the CM’s chair until proven honest by the electorate.
The resignation comes days after his bail in an alleged liquor policy corruption case. AAP leader Raghav Chadha backed Kejriwal’s “agnipariksha” move, saying Delhiites will prove him innocent.
Kejriwal urged people to decide if he is innocent or guilty, and vote for him if they are satisfied with his work.
He stated an AAP meeting will pick a new CM in two days, adding elections should be held in November with Maharashtra polls.
Kejriwal aims to let Delhi’s upcoming assembly election serve as the “people’s court” to vindicate him of charges. His announcement signals intent to seek a fresh public mandate for continuity if cleared of allegations.
