Atishi emotionally responds to BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri’s remarks

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi broke down during a press briefing after BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri’s remark that “she changed her father.” The BJP candidate for the Kalkaji Assembly constituency made the remark on Sunday.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi broke down during a press briefing on Sunday after BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri took a personal jab at her, saying, “She changed her father.”

Refuting Bidhuri’s comments, Atishi said, “I want to tell Ramesh Bidhuri that my father has been a teacher throughout his life. He has taught thousands of children from poor and lower-middle-class families. Today, he is 80 years old and in fragile health cannot even walk without help. He has resorted to abusing an older man. I never thought politics in this country could fall so low.”

During his speech, Bidhuri alleged, “Atishi, who was Marlena, is now Singh. She has even changed her father. This reflects the character of the Aam Aadmi Party.”

He also revived old accusations against Atishi’s family, claiming that her parents had submitted a mercy petition to pardon Afzal Guru, the convicted terrorist behind the 2001 Parliament attack.

“Atishi Marlena’s parents had filed a mercy petition against the death sentence of Afzal Guru, who had killed many of our gallant soldiers. I want to ask the people of Delhi whether they want to support those who sought a pardon for Guru’s death sentence,” the BJP leader added. AAP convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal condemned Bidhuri’s remarks on social media platform X.
