BSP is shocked as its Tamil Nadu unit president, K. Armstrong, was murdered brutally with an axe on Tuesday morning in front of his residence in Chennai. The case has raised lots of uproar in the state and the entire nation. Party chief Mayawati condemned the case and called for the rigorous punishment of the culprits.
It is said that Armstrong, 47, was talking to his fans outside his Perambur house one day when bike riders, out of which four were wearing food delivery outfits, set upon him with machetes and sickles. Armstrong, the injured, was taken to a private hospital where he was pronounced dead.
BSP supremo Mayawati has described Armstrong’s murder as an ‘’extremely sad and worrying incident’’ and has indicated that she will go to Chennai on Sunday to sympathize with the family. The BSP chief protested against the brutal murder of the ‘hardworking and dedicated leader’ and demanded the Tamil Nadu government to act in future to stop such criminal activities.
The Bahujan Samaj Party has also demanded that the probe into the incident be conducted independently and come out clean, asserting that the actual offenders are not the people who have been arrested by the police force.
The party’s workers have been staging agitations in various districts of Tamil Nadu with an urgent call for a CBI investigation into the murder of Armstrong and the dismissal of the ADGP (Intelligence) for his inability to thwart the attack.
In a fast reaction, the Tamil Nadu government has directed the police to probe this shocking murder ‘Promptly’ and ‘Speedily’ and, based on the findings of the investigation, to apprise the public about the guilty. So far, eight suspects have been arrested about the case, said Chennai Additional Commissioner (North) Asra Garg.
The sad event has again brought into the limelight the vulnerability of the country’s politicians and the importance of providing adequate security to the politicians. While the bull continues with the search for the killers of Armstrong, the BSP and BSP fanatics are keenly waiting for the gears to grind in giving a requital for their companion.
