The suspected Eve teasers followed her vehicle in a different vehicle, pushing her towards a road divider and causing her vehicle to turn over. A 27-year-old woman was killed in a road accident in Paschim Bardhaman district of West Bengal while plying her vehicle in a racing attitude with another vehicle on Monday, police informed, reversing the statement that the woman was killed attempting to escape eve-teasers chasing her in another vehicle.
The 27-year-old event manager was crushed to death in a road accident after her car overturned when she was racing with another car on Monday, news agency PTI reported, citing police. The victim, an event manager, was a resident of Hooghly’s Chinsurah, police further added.
The victim was travelling to Gaya along with three of her colleagues for a function when the accident occurred at Panagarh at 9:30 pm on Sunday, police informed. Two other individuals who were travelling with her also suffered critical injuries, they added.
The victim and her team had filled their vehicle with fuel at a gas station in the area when a white vehicle carrying five occupants started tailing them, a senior police officer was reported to have said earlier on Monday.
“Once they were on the highway, the guys in the other vehicle began making obscene comments at the victim and started driving erratically,” the officer said to PTI, adding that immediately after the accident, the suspected eve-teasers left their car and ran away.
Late in the evening, though, the Asansol-Durgapur Police Commission rejected these assertions, explaining that there had been no “eve-teasing” or pursuit involved. Rather, it was the victim’s car that was chasing the other car, they explained.
There was no eve-teasing here. We have interrogated the victim’s car driver and co-passenger. Technical inputs from the CCTV footage indicate that the victim’s car was pursuing the other car. It began with the victim’s car overtaking the other car and resulting in a collision,” Asansol-Durgapur Commissioner of Police Sunil Kumar Choudhary said.
The other car then overtook the victim’s car and went to Panagarh Rice Mill, where its occupants stayed. The victim’s car kept pursuing them, and while taking a turn, it turned over,” Choudhary said.
