Bengaluru family found dead in suspected nurder-suicide

A tragedy struck Bengaluru when the police found four members of a family dead in their rented house. According to local police, victims include 38-year-old Anup Kumar, his 35-year-old wife Rakhi, their 5-year-old daughter Anupriya, and 2-year-old son Priyansh, with all four falling prey to suspected murder-suicide.

The family, originally from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, had shifted to Bengaluru owing to Kumar’s job as a software consultant with a private firm. According to the police, the macabre incident came to light on Monday morning when the family’s house help first came for work. As no member responded to their calls despite repeated attempts, the house help approached the neighbors, who alerted the police. Inside the house, police found the bodies of the couple and their children.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Anup and Rakhi might have poisoned their children before hanging themselves. Reports say the family was going through emotional distress, especially regarding their elder child’s health condition. Anupriya was a child with special needs and had reportedly put immense stress on the parents, according to their house help.

Despite that grim reality, the family was known to be a happy one, having planned a vacation to Pondicherry only recently and having completed packing only a day ago. The family hired three workers – two cooks and a caregiver for their children at Rs 15,000 each month.

So far, no suicide note has been recovered from the spot. The police have registered a case and continue their investigation into this tragic incident.
