Bengaluru hostel murder: Accused arrested in Madhya Pradesh

The Bengaluru Police have now arrested the suspect culpable for the murder of a 24-year-old woman in her hostel, situated in the city’s Koramangala. This accused was the boyfriend of the victim’s roommate and was arrested from Madhya Pradesh and is being brought to Bengaluru for further questioning, said B Dayanand, the Bengaluru Police Commissioner.

The victim is 22-year-old Kriti Kumari, who originally belongs from Bihar and was living in a paying guest (PG) accommodation in the Koramangala area of the city. It was on the night of Tuesday at about 11:00 PM, the accused having a knife, broke the security and found her way to Kriti’s room… The accused cut the throat of the deceased.

From the information available, Kriti and the accused used to quarrel with each other about how the man/accused was jobless. Kriti, who tried to calm the situation most of the time, once had reportedly suggested to her roommate to stay away from the man accused of the brutal crime. This, the accused said, made her the target of the knife-wielding man.

The horrible event was recorded on some of the security cameras that were fitted in the hostel compound. In the video, the man, with the permission of the building administrator, went to Kriti’s room and opened the door by discontinuing the drama of knocking on the door and the man dragged Kriti to the corridor forcefully and pressed her against the wall.

Nevertheless, she tried to retreat, but the man attacked her and, thrusting a knife into her neck several times, managed to flee the scene. Other residents came out running hearing the ruckus, among them one of them went and reported the matter to the police.

Commissioner Dayanand said that the case is being investigated seriously and that three teams of Bengaluru police were created to arrest the accused. The suspect has now been arrested in Madhya Pradesh, and he is being brought to the city to continue the interrogations and the lawful processes.
