Bengaluru: Woman jumps from auto due to drunk driver

The woman has not officially reported the incident to the authorities. In an unusual incident, a 30-year-old woman narrowly escaped on Thursday night in East Bengaluru after she decided to jump from a moving auto-rickshaw.

She had taken the service after realizing that the driver had ignored her instructions and diverted his route towards an unfamiliar destination. The woman has not officially reported the incident to the authorities.

She booked an auto from Horamavu to Thanisandra, Bangalore. It was a drunken driver who drove her towards some wrong location near Hebbal. She also insisted on stopping on several occasions. He did not listen and pushed her out of the moving auto.

The woman’s husband, Azhar Khan, took to the social media platform X to share the experience. He tagged the Bengaluru city police. According to his post, he mentioned that the driver was drunk during the incident. As per a Hindustan Times report, she had booked the auto-rickshaw through the Namma Yatri app and was travelling from Horamavu to her home in Thanisandra.

On her way to her destination, she felt something was wrong when the driver, instead of taking the usual route, started heading towards Hebbal. She questioned the driver several times and realized that the driver was not responding to her requests to stop the vehicle. According to her husband, the driver’s behaviour was alarming, especially as the woman noticed the driver’s red eyes and overall signs of intoxication.
