Bihar NDA finalizes seat-sharing ahead of Lok Sabha polls
The ruling National Democratic Alliance in Bihar has concluded its seat division plan for the upcoming general elections. As per the arrangement, the BJP will contest on 17 seats while Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) has been allotted 16 seats.
Chirag Paswan’s LJP faction will field candidates in 5 constituencies. Upendra Kushwaha’s RLSP and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM(S) will fight from one seat each.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the NDA, comprising the BJP, JD(U), and LJP, secured 39 of 40 seats in Bihar by garnering over 53% of the combined vote share.
This gave the alliance a significant edge over the then-United Progressive Alliance. Congress managed to win just one seat while RJD drew a blank.
With seat talks finalized well in advance, the ruling NDA hopes to retain its dominance in Bihar by capitalizing on its incumbent advantages and ongoing development programs.
However, a resurgent opposition has also stepped up efforts to woo voters. The battlelines are starkly drawn for what is expected to be a high-voltage electoral battle in the politically crucial state.
