Delhi excise policy case: BJP alleges ‘hijacking’ of CM’s office
Hours after Delhi minister Atishi claimed receiving directives from arrested CM Arvind Kejriwal, BJP has alleged the CM’s office was “hijacked”.
Addressing the media, BJP leaders Manjinder Sirsa and Manoj Tiwari called the letter “forged” and accused AAP of “unconstitutional hijacking” of the CM’s office.
“How can orders be issued without a letter number or order number? No names are mentioned on whose behalf it was issued,” Sirsa stated.
He said, Tiwari dubbed the letter “scripted” and termed Kejriwal’s arrest a reason to celebrate. “A script has been written regarding water issues in Delhi while the culprit is in custody,”
Atishi had informed of Kejriwal’s directions from ED custody regarding water and sewage management in Delhi.
Advocate Rudra Vikram believes the CM, being an accused at present, cannot be barred from essential duties inside custody if allowed time.
The ED had arrested Kejriwal on Thursday over an alleged liquor “conspiracy” which saw “favours to individuals”. He has been remanded in custody till March 28.
A political slugfest has ensued even as Kejriwal’s directive adds a new dimension to the ongoing legal battle.
