Meanwhile, the leader of opposition and LoP in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta from BJP attacked AAP national convener and former Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal over alleged women-related issues and complete negligence in the last ten years. Gupta said, “Arvind Kejriwal is rattled. In the last ten years, he hasn’t done anything for the women.
He got Swati Maliwal, MP of Rajya Sabha, assaulted in his house; his MLAs treat their wives no better.” Gupta hinted that the alleged assault on Swati Maliwal was only a symptom of Kejriwal’s inefficiency as far as protection of the rights of women was concerned and part of the big picture of neglect.
Kejriwal responded with a press conference on December 22, where he attacked the Centre for excluding Delhi’s tableau in the Republic Day parade. “Delhi is the capital of India, and its tableau must be showcased in the January 26 parade every year. This exclusion has been going on for too long. What kind of politics is this? Why do they have such disdain for the people of Delhi? ” Kejriwal asked.
He went ahead and berated the central government’s lack of vision for the city, saying, “Why should the people vote for them? ” Other BJP leaders joined the chorus against Kejriwal. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva condemned the AAP leader for what he termed “corruption” that has devastated Delhi.
“Delhi is the capital of India, yet during national festivals, we see the anarchic tendencies of Arvind Kejriwal. We remember the 2014 Republic Day protests, and now he seeks to politicize the parade tableau,” Sachdeva remarked.
He added, “What does Kejriwal intend to showcase in Delhi’s tableau? The overflowing sewers that have caused over 60 deaths, or the ‘Sheeshmahal’ he constructed by misusing public funds?undefined” MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat seconded this, adding that the Kejriwal government has completely forgotten the way to solve the basic civic problems of the city.
“Despite being in power for ten years, the Delhi government remains oblivious to the basic needs of its citizens. When elections approach, Kejriwal seeks feedback, yet issues like sewer cleaning in Rajinder Nagar remain unresolved, leading to tragic consequences,” Sehrawat said.
