BJP drops Varun Gandhi; Congress extends invitation in Political twist

One of the major political developments is that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) decided not to give a ticket to Varun Gandhi, a sitting member of Lok Sabha from Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. This astonishing action has left a wide gate open for the Congress party to offer Varun Gandhi a position in their lineup.

The senior congress leader, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, has expressly extended a nice welcome to Varun Gandhi, drawing on his position as an eminent leader and educated person. Chowdhury mentioned that with Varun Gandhi’s roots in the Gandhi family and the fact that he had acquired to be a transparent leader, there could have been various reasons for the BJP not offering him the ticket.

The BJP’s fifth list of candidates revealed on April 28, shows that Varun Gandhi was excluded from being a candidate in Pilibhit. Funnily, his mother, Maneka Gandhi, was retained by the party and will run in the Sultanpur constituency.

The gap created by Varun Gandhi’s departure was filled by Jitin Prasada, a former Congress official who joined the BJP in 2021. Prasada is the name set as a candidate for the Pilibhit constituency, which clearly manifests a turning point in local politics.

While Varun Gandhi’s exclusion from the BJP’s candidate list has sparked speculation and discussions among political circles, the reason behind it is still a matter of intrigue. On the other hand, the Congress party, which Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury steers, would be more than happy to expand its clan by confirming Varun Gandhi’s entry into its ranks.

As the political dynamics keep taking a spin in the build up to the elections, all eyes are on what is to be Mr. Gandhi’s next move. Will he accept Congress Party’s offer and start a new chapter in his life or try something different? The weeks ahead will show which road the this powerful political leader will embark upon and the possible implications for the state election in Uttar Pradesh.
