BJP engages public in unique manifesto creation

Ahead of the 2024 state elections, the BJP in Odisha is breaking away from tradition with its unique manifesto-building process. Instead of closed-door deliberations, the party directly engages citizens through an outreach program called ‘Bhajaanchale BJP.’

From village street corners to social media platforms, leaders and cadres have fanned out across the state with tablets and paper. They aim to listen to locals and gather ideas for the issues and policies that truly matter.

“We want our manifesto to reflect the priorities of ordinary Odias,” explained state BJP president Prithviraj Harichandan. “By speaking with people from all walks of life, we hope to develop a pragmatic plan that addresses everyday challenges.”

No group is being left out of the discussions. Farmers, traders, students, and more share their wishes and concerns with senior members. The booth-level interactions ensure even remote voices find representation.

“For the first time, we can directly pitch our thoughts to those seeking power,” remarked Santosh Mallick from Balasore.

The manifesto committee will pour over all valuable inputs. The electoral document will be crafted, ready to win voters with its people-centered vision.

Through its ‘Bhajaanchale BJP’ effort, the party aims to foster a true grassroots connection. Going straight to the source, could it establish a new benchmark for creating poll platforms that empower citizens? Odisha awaits the results of this participative process.
