BJP Nominates Arun Govil, Famous as Ram from Ramayana, for the Meerut Lok Sabha Seat.
In a significant development, Arun Govil, widely recognized for his portrayal of Lord Ram in the iconic TV series “Ramayana,” has been chosen as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Meerut.
During his recent outreach program, Govil revealed that he prefers not to interact directly with the electorate. He believes that communication transcends words and happens through the power of visual connection.
The immense reverence bestowed upon him by the people, who perceive him as Lord Ram, is evident through the performance of 20-25 Aartis (religious rituals) during the ‘Jan Sampark’ events.
Reflecting on his unique position as a popular actor contesting in the elections, Govil expressed gratitude for the increased respect he receives due to his portrayal of Lord Ram.
Drawing a comparison with politicians, he highlighted the gesture of people touching his feet, indicating their deep admiration despite his electoral role.
During the Jan Sampark events, Govil becomes the center of attention, as massive quantities of flowers, weighing two tonnes, are showered upon him while women eagerly come forward to touch his feet.
The overwhelming response signifies the positive perception the public holds towards him.
Notably, the Jan Sampark events focus primarily on establishing a personal connection with the people rather than discussing specific issues or making promises.
Govil emphasized that he neither discloses his plans nor asks for the electorate’s opinions. Nevertheless, the people’s immense respect and excitement reaffirm the power of non-verbal communication, where emotions are conveyed through the eyes.
In the political landscape, Govil asserted that the BJP stands out as the sole party that champions the cause of nationalism.
He attributed the Modi government’s accomplishments such as safeguarding women’s dignity, providing gas connections and houses to millions of women, constructing highways, and implementing medical insurance for the underprivileged.
Govil lauded PM Modi for delivering on his promises, which have garnered nationwide acceptance. The BJP is expected to cross the 400-seat mark in the elections.
Facing a tough electoral battle, Govil’s opponent in the Meerut Lok Sabha seat is Sunita Verma from the Samajwadi Party. Notably, the Samajwadi Party has changed its candidate for the seat twice, with Sunita Verma replacing Atul Pradhan, who had previously replaced advocate Bhanu Pratap Singh.
