BJP leader Navneet Rana, AIMIM chief trade barbs over remarks.
BJP leader Navneet Rana and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi engaged in a war of words after Rana issued a provocative statement against the Owaisi brothers in Telangana.
Addressing a public meeting supporting a BJP candidate, Rana referenced Akbaruddin Owaisi’s controversial 2013 remark. She said if the brothers were removed for just 15 seconds, they wouldn’t know where they came from or went.
Her comments sparked a sharp reaction from Asaduddin Owaisi, who challenged Rana to back her dare. He demanded the BJP leader be given an hour instead of 15 seconds to show what she can do.
“Give her 15 seconds, give her 1 hour. I am here; let’s see (what she can do),” Owaisi dared. He further said that if someone is openly calling for such a confrontation, they should act on it since the BJP is in power at the Centre.
Just last week, Rana had courted controversy with another provocative statement directed at those unwilling to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram.’
The exchange comes amid heightened political tensions in Telangana before next year’s assembly elections. Both sides seem to be resorting to polarising rhetoric to mobilize support.
