BJP questions Rahul Gandhi’s frequent Vietnam visits during Holi

BJP chief Ravi Shankar Prasad expressed doubts about Rahul Gandhi’s ‘interesting’ and ‘unusual fondness for Vietnam’, and Amit Malviya alleged it raised grave national security issues.

The BJP on Saturday attacked Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for allegedly taking repeated visits to Vietnam and other nations without going public about it. The party said such undisclosed foreign visits are not becoming of the Leader of the Opposition and raised national security issues.

Responding to a press conference, Ravi Shankar Prasad stated, “New Year in Vietnam, Holi also in Vietnam? I have been informed he has taken 22 days in Vietnam. He has not even taken that much time in his constituency, Rae Bareli.

Ravi Shankar Prasad expressed concerns regarding Rahul Gandhi’s ‘curious’ and ‘extraordinary affection for Vietnam’, whereas Amit Malviya alleged it raised serious national security issues.”.

Seeking details of Rahul Gandhi’s ‘frequent’ foreign visits from the Congress, BJP national IT cell head Amit Malviya tweeted on X, “As Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi has a significant role to play, and his many covert foreign trips, particularly when Parliament is in session, seriously call into question propriety and national security.”

Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to Vietnam is at a time when the Budget session of Parliament is ongoing and several months after he departed for the South Asian country during the seven-day mourning of India’s former Prime Minister and senior Congress leader Manmohan Singh.

Gandhi’s final visit to Vietnam after the death of Manmohan Singh on December 26 also received scathing criticism, with the BJP alleging that the Congress leader departed for New Year celebrations while the “nation is mourning the death of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.”.
