BJP responds to Congress chief Kharge’s ‘dubki’ remark on Shah

Mallikarjun Kharge made this remark hours after Amit Shah had taken a holy dip in Sangam at Prayagraj during the Maha Kumbh Mela, the world’s largest religious congregation.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge courted controversy on Monday by targeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who took a holy dip in Sangam at Prayagraj. Kharge said that even after 100 births, he wouldn’t ascend to heaven.

Strongly reacting to the comment, the BJP termed Congress as “anti-Hindu” and asked if the grand old party can insult other religious sentiments in the same manner they have been doing.

Shah reached Prayagraj on Monday to take a holy dip in Triveni Sangam during the ongoing Maha Kumbh mela. He offered his prayers to God with the blessings of several Hindu saints and seers.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have committed so many sins together that they will not be able to reach heaven even if they get 100 lifelines,” said Kharge while addressing a public rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Mhow.

Kharge further sharpened his attack against BJP leaders for taking the holy dip at the Sangam, saying, “BJP leaders are in a race, taking the holy dip.” Arre bhai, Ganga mein dubki lene se garibi dur hoti hai kya? (By taking a dip in Ganga, will poverty be eradicated? Do you get food by taking a dip? He asked the gathering.

Soon realizing the impact of his remarks, Kharge apologized for any unintended hurt his comments may have caused to the religious sentiments of those at the rally.
