The BJP has launched a scathing attack on DMK leader A Raja for allegedly making divisive remarks in a recent speech.
Accusing him of questioning India’s idea as a nation, the saffron party posted a translated clip of the Tamil address online.
In it, Raja purportedly calls India a “subcontinent,” not a country, saying languages define separate nations within.
He also reportedly slammed beliefs in Lord Ram and Manipuri culture. “We are enemies of Ram,” the translation quotes him as saying.
Temple priests have condemned the speech as the opposition ramps up pressure. Ministers slammed the MP and his alliance as supporting a “tukde tukde gang.”
With the top court already pulling up another DMK leader, this intensifies the political storm faced by the Dravidian major and its Congress partners.
As outrage grows, the focus shifts to their response amid allegations of attempting to demean India’s cultural fabric for narrow gains.
Political temperatures continue rising in the simmering dispute over alleged hate speech in the deeply divided polity.
