Blast at Tamil Nadu firecracker unit leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

The firecracker unit is in Salem district.

Chennai:

People lost their lives and two other people got injured in an explosion that occurred at a fire cracker manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu Salem on Wednesday.

The police sources stated that a worker was carrying some consignment of chemicals that fell down, and it seems to have caused the blast, and further investigation is going on.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin mourns death and said that ₹ 3 lakh will be given to the families of those who lost their lives and ₹ 1 lakh to the affected.

Five people, including two women, had been killed and four others had been injured in the blast that occurred at the Sivashakthi Fireworks godown. Authorities had claimed that there were fire crackers that were stocked for use on weddings and festivals like temples.
