This is rather scary; an IndiGO flight carrying as many as 172 passengers was forced to make an emergency landing in Mumbai on Saturday following a bomb threat call.
The flight, 6E 5314, was operating from Chennai to Mumbai and landed at around 8:g 45 am As per the security agency’s guidelines, the aircraft was sent to an isolation bay for inspection to assess the situation.
According to the available sources, the flight was informed that a bomb was on board and asked the pilot to refrain from landing in Mumbai. To this assertion, IndiGo responded: “Yes, there was a bomb hoop with regard to this flight. Upon landing in Mumbai, the crew acted as per standard procedure, and, as per security agencies’ instructions, the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay.
Everyone has evacuated the plane as per the standard procedure, and the aircraft is already being checked for mechanical faults. Thus, after completing all the security requirements involved, the airline said, the aircraft will be moved back to the terminal area.
This is the second bomb scare in the city in the past two days, following the one reported at the airport where a Vistara Airlines flight was de-boarded over a bomb threat, which was later found to be a false alarm.
Notably, it is the second incident of a chicken found on an IndiGo flight in the past week. An IndiGo flight with the flight number 6E 190 from Delhi to Varanasi also reported a bomb threat. It received an alleged bomb threat on May 28.
All passengers and crew members and the luggage of the latest flight are being checked to confirm the validity of the bomb threat that the authorities are currently investigating. The aviation industry still maintains extremely effective responses and countermeasures to such security issues.
