Bomb threat hoax triggers early dismissal at Delhi Schools

The menace of bomb threat took Delhi’s locality and its outskirt regions into panic mode today when around 100 schools received security alerts in the form of an email. Police officers undertook a large-scale search movement.

However, no suspicious things were found, so the authorities had to call the whole case a hoax. The origin of the phishing emails is confirmed with a single IP address, however, the email exhibits the Russian domain. Hence, its exact location cannot be identified.

Among the first places were Sanskriti School, Mother Mary School, and Delhi Public School, and the offenders expected the protests to be widespread, involving nearly one hundred other educational centers with a similar threat of the presence of explosives on campus.

One school, Mother Mary, appeared to have no other choice than to postpone the exam already in progress and send the students to the nearest shelter.

Rather than precipitating unnecessary worry, Assistant Commissioner of Delhi Police Suman Nalwa emphasized that every possible measure is being taken to avoid such incidents in the future. Chapters—Explosive Detection, disposal, and the Delhi Fire Department were immediately rushed to the affected schools. While some probably didn’t expect to be blocked, other schools have released students early just to be sure.

Indian media reported an unfounded bomb threat in Delhi, with Human Resource Development Minister Martin Kent mentioning a confidential source. The present event sequels such a hoax which took place on February 1 at Delhi Police School. Vigilance must remain prominent, and there should be constant heavy security in our schools.
