Bomb threats to Rajkot hotels turn out to be hoaxes

The hotel rooms and vehicles parked in the hotel parking areas are being checked. The local police team, bomb squad, and dog squad were immediately deployed to the spots.

Almost a decade of significant hotels in Gujarat’s Rajkot city received bomb threats on Saturday through emails with statements saying they would be blown to pieces.

The 5-star hotels have been counted among them, such as Imperial Palace, Seasons Hotel, Hotel Grand Regency, and Sayaji Hotel.

Simultaneously, when the police of Rajkot City launched an inquiry into the threat to find out who the sender of the mail was, they found that the threats were hoaxes.

Sources said these emails were sent around 12:45 PM. The sender threatened that “bombs will explode in a short while.” In the email, he introduced himself as Kan Den.

The local police team, along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and dog squad, rushed to the hotels immediately to thoroughly search the premises. The hotel rooms and the vehicles parked at the hotels’ parking areas were also checked.

However, nothing suspicious was found in the search operation that lasted nearly five hours,” said police inspector SM Jadeja of the Special Operations Group (SOG). He said the search concluded around 6 pm while a probe was underway to trace the sender.

According to a news agency PTI, “I planted bombs at every place in your hotel. The bombs will explode in a few hours. Many innocent lives will be lost today. Hurry up and vacate the hotel, the email stated,”.

Police Inspector RG Barot confirmed receiving the threat email. “Crime Branch has received information about this. A bomb threat mail has been received. Checking is going on. Further action is underway,” he said.
