Bombay High Court allows termination of pregnancy for 12-year-old rape survivor

The Bombay High Court has done a great thing by approving the abortion of a 12-year-old girl who is a rape victim. A vacation bench from Justices Sandeep Marne and Neela Gokhale attentively examined the medical board’s report that recommended the termination of the 25-week pregnancy.

The court put the main thing in the forefront, which is the playing of the minor’s welfare and safety, provided the situation was more urgent. The girl’s mother sued in the high court, saying that her 14-year-old son had done as raped his daughter. A case has been exposed against him, and he has been transferred to a juvenile home.

The girl’s pregnancy was discovered when she started feeling stomachaches, and her mother took her to the hospital. It was found out that her elder brother had been caressing her when no one was home. Besides, he had also scared her by giving her a lot of severe consequences.

The medical board took into account the fact that the girl found out about her pregnancy late, so it was decided that the pregnancy should be terminated because continuing it would cause massive mental and physical harm.

The court instructed the hospital to offer the counseling service for the girl after the termination procedure. Besides, the court instructed the hospital administrators to keep the right tissue and DNA samples of the fetus for the continuing criminal trial.

This choice aims to give the young survivor the right attitude and the chance to live a happy and fulfilling life by providing her with the needed support during this difficult time.
