Building collapse in Mumbai leaves one dead, three injured

In a devastating incident, a portion of a building in Mumbai collapsed amidst heavy rains on Saturday, resulting in the death of one woman and leaving three others injured. The fire brigade officials have so far rescued 13 people from the site.

Chilling CCTV footage captured when the structure crumbled, sending debris and rubble cascading onto the surrounding area. While a section of the building collapsed, some parts were left hanging precariously, raising concerns about the structural integrity of the entire structure.

Rescue operations are underway, with teams combing through the debris to search for survivors trapped underneath. The incident has once again highlighted the vulnerability of Mumbai’s ageing infrastructure, particularly during the monsoon season when heavy downpours pose a significant threat.

The heavy rainfall has also disrupted the city’s public transportation system, with bus and railway services facing delays and disruptions. The Central Railway’s Mainline services were affected due to a technical glitch in a train engine, while the Western Railway claimed its suburban services were operational.

The Mumbai Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate to heavy rains in the city, urging residents to exercise caution and remain vigilant during this period.

The tragic incident has left the community in shock, with authorities vowing to investigate the cause of the collapse and take appropriate measures to prevent such disasters from occurring in the future.
