Canada’s largest gold heist: Nine charged, including four of Indian origin

An extraordinary event has led to the case of nine people being charged, now called the biggest gold heist in the history of Canada. Among the accused, four of them are of Indian origin. The heist occurred at the Air Canada cargo facility at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

So, a year ago, the criminals stole a cargo shipment carrying 6,600 gold bars weighing 400 kg, as well as the CAD2 that was in it. The authorities seized 5 million in foreign currency using falsified documents. The criminals managed to carry out their plan by giving the fake documents to the staff at the facility and telling them it was the seafood cargo bill.

Although the truck was filled with a huge amount of gold and foreign currency instead of seafood, the heinousness of the theft left the investigation investigators stupefied. Although five suspects have been released on bail in Canada and are ready for trial, one person from Brampton, Ontario, was arrested in Pennsylvania for firearm trafficking and is still in detention in the United States.

The police have imposed countrywide warrants for the three last suspects. To mention the intrigue, a 36-year-old man was recently arrested at Toronto’s main airport in connection with the heist. This is the case with the two men of Indian origin who were linked to the crime, one of them being an Air Canada employee.

Each arrest helps the investigators better understand the intricate details of this high-profile case. The scale and method of the heist have been linked to a Netflix serial. The officials are still working hard to discover all the details about this bold heist that has surprised the entire nation.
