Cattle trader’s deadly ties: How locals aided terrorists in pilgrim attack

The probe into the terror attack on Hindu pilgrims in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir last month revealed that a local cattle trader supported the militants in perpetrating the tragedy, it was reported.

The incident occurred on June 9 and involved nine Killed while over 40 Persons were injured when terrorists fired at a whim to the extent that a Bus carrying Pilgrims on their way to worship at Vaishno Devi Shrine.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), currently investigating the case, has successfully investigated that all three terrorists involved in the attack had gone to a cattle trader named Hakam Din and even offered him Rs 5,000 to arrange the car.

Claiming this at a press conference, the investigators quoted by The Indian Express discovered that the terrorists operating in Mumbai needed Din for supplies and mapping before the assault. They directed him to cook for them and even dared to take him along for espionage at the attack site, where they assessed the proper spot and the flow of the tourist buses.

The report holds that on June 8, the terrorists toured Din’s house, mapped out the plan, and shared tea before the terrible incident on the following day. Later, they offered Din Rs 5,000 to get away from them as their lawyer suggested.

Three attacks took place on and immediately after June 9, during which Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Council of Ministers were being sworn in at the central generally in New Delhi, and the following two days, two more incidents occurred in Kathua and Doda regions of Jammu which cost the loss of at least three lives.

This case has also uncovered how the terrorists rely on the locals, in the form of cattle traders in this case, to execute their plans, hence the need for security enhancement in the region.
