Kolkata murder case: CBI questions key suspects, reconstruction underway.
The CBI is questioning key suspects in the gruesome murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, sources said on Friday.
The victim’s parents provided names of hospital officials they suspected were involved in the rape and murder of their daughter at the RG Kar Medical College.
The CBI is prioritizing the interrogation of individuals named and officers who dealt with the initial probe, sources said. Around 30 suspects have been identified so far.
On Friday, the agency summoned hospital staff on duty that night. Former principal Dr Sandip Ghosh was also queried, who had resigned after the crime.
Using an advanced 3D method, CBI got the accused civic volunteer to enact crime scene reconstruction at the hospital seminar hall where the victim’s body was found.
Meanwhile, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee accused the opposition of spreading misinformation about the case. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia hit back calling ruling coalition leaders “political vultures”.
Protests continue across India by medicos demanding safety laws. With the high court transferring the case, culprits will be punished regardless of influence, the BJP leader stated.
As the investigation gains pace with scientific methods, answers to the gruesome murder are awaited.
