CBI questions ex-principal in Kolkata doctor murder case

The CBI probe into the brutal rape and murder of a young doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata is still on, and former principal Dr. Sandip Ghosh has been questioned for the fourth day in a row. The medical superintendent, Dr. Ghosh, had to resign honorably only after the incident and join another medical college immediately. However, the Calcutta High Court criticized the state government for not examining him first in connection with the heinous crime.

Dr. Ghosh went to the CBI office in the CGO complex on Monday morning and was asked several questions, including why the parents of the victim had to wait for more than three hours at the hospital after they received the news of the tragedy. He was also asked about his first reaction upon hearing of the incident and the first person he contacted.

The CBI also wanted to know from Dr Ghosh during the weekend’s questioning sessions, who had ordered renovation in the seminar hall of the emergency building where the crime was committed. Police officers have also sought his call records, inter-call dialing records, and a copy of chats on the WhatsApp application, among other things, which remain on his mobile phone.

The victim, a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee, was found dead in the seminar hall after working hours of 36 hrs continuously. Her father said that he was notified of the accident at 11 PM, and he went to the hospital to see his daughter by 12 midnight, only to be allowed to see the lifeless body of his daughter at 3:30 AM.

In connection with the case, a Kolkata police civil volunteer, Sanjoy Roy, has been arrested. ; media have reported that his Bluetooth headset was recovered at the crime scene.
