Centre announces 5 new districts for Ladakh to boost local governance

Addressing a rally in Leh town, Shah stated that five new districts are going to be carved out in the newly formed Union Territory of Ladakh.

Our Man got it from an X post where Shah said that the decision was taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the new districts will ensure that the developments initiated by the government reach the people directly.

The new districts that will be created, namely, Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang.

“In order to make Ladakh a developed region as envisaged by PM Narendra Modi Ji, the MHA has decided to carve out five new districts, namely Zanskar Drass Sham Nubra and Changthang, so that the government and its benefits reach out to each corner,” the Home Minister tweeted.

“It is my belief that the Modi government is all set to provide the people of Ladakh ample opportunity,” he said.

The change was also praised by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who in an X post said, “The creation of five new districts in Ladakh is going to usher in better governance and development.

Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang are going to get more focused attention, and services and opportunities are going to reach people at a much closer range.

Well done, the people  there,” the Prime Minister types.

Chief of the region, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, the MP of Ladakh, also supported the decision, saying that it will open for the development of the region as well as for the overall Ladakh.
