Centre forms high-level panel to review NTA amid NEET controversies

It may be noted that the Centre has received criticism over the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Among the measures taken, the Centre has decided to constitute a high-level committee to look into the workings of the National Testing Agency (NTA) which conducts the NEET for medical admissions.

Speaking at a press briefing, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan assured that the committee will submit suggestions regarding the modifications of those flaws of NTA for conducting better structure for functioning, examinations, transparency, and data security in the form of zero-error exams.

Pradhan also noted that anyone found guilty will be dealt an advantageous and menacing hand to reinforce the government’s stance. The development follows the heightened curiosity occasioned by the first time 67 students scored 720, which raised eyebrows.

As for the other inputs given regarding the NEET exam by the Bihar government, Pradhan disclosed that the Patna Police is already on the job and will soon submit a detailed report. He acknowledged, there are indications that such mistakes were likely linked to a particular area.

Pradhan speaks on the confidence in their systems; whatever anomalies and vices in the process will not be accepted by the government: The students’ rights will be protected, and fair examination is guaranteed.

The formation of the high-level committee shows that the government also cares for the candidates and wants to ensure everything is being done to remove the grievances concerning the NEET examination.
