Following the disaster of the massive fire incident that killed about 48 people, 42 of who are said to be Indian migrants in Kuwait, the process of mourning has been equally sad because some of the corpses are almost unrecognizable due to burn injuries.
The Union Minister for Forests, Kirti Vardhan Singh, who went to the Gulf country following the tragedy, has said that samples of the bodies have been taken for DNA identification of the deceased.
In a ‘vandal’ meeting held in his residence, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, offered ₹2 lakh rehabilitation package to the families of the victims who were affected due to the blaze.
India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr S Jaishankar, has conveyed to the Kuwaiti counterpart his concern regarding the incident, and they assured him that the matter would be probed to the core and anyone involved in the act would be brought to book.
The Indian Ambassador here in Kuwait has collected a list of names of the deceased and has opened a number for the families of the victims; the first list of names will be out later today. The sad event has brought out the many risks blind faced by the Indian migrant workers who have become the largest community in Kuwait, making up 21% of the population and 30% of Kuwait’s workforce.
