Chief justice of India praises the transformational impact of new criminal laws

Notwithstanding this, the Chief Justice of India, Justice DY Chandrachud, who was the address giver at the national capital conference, said to the audience

That the three criminal laws, which were just recently formulated in the country, have triggered a drastic paradigm shift. 

Justice CJI says

That the aforesaid laws actually are the turning point in the Indian legal system and a distinct shift from the classical system of criminal justice in this country.

CJI Chandrachud declared that to change the pattern of Indian society; new legal weapons are needed to face the ambiguous problems. He said that these laws are rather an opportunity for a watershed moment since they affect the daily conduct of society.

One cannot underestimate criminal law, especially its application to societal norms. The CJI will, however, also emphasize that the roll-out of these new laws should consider both implementation and adjustments to make it successful.

It is planned that the Criminal Laws of Bharat that will replace the Indian Penal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, and the Indian Evidence Act from July 1 2023, are to be called the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bhartiya Saksha Adhiniyam respectively. 

The laws are designed to combat the different aspects of terrorism-related offences and acts against the state; first, informational reports are done through electronic communication, widespread use of material and electoral malpractice, and overall enhancement in the provision of crimes against women and girls.

He said that, for the rules to work for good, remarkable work on infrastructure development investment in the court system, building the capacity of forensic experts, and training the investigation officers is very important. By pointedly invoking a strong action now call to facilitate these crucial infrastructures, he was reemphasizing the role of criminal laws in the bigger societal picture.
