Chris Martin shouts out to Bumrah for backstage jam

Coldplay’s Mumbai concert on Saturday was unforgettable for music and cricket fans. Lead singer Chris Martin surprised the crowds at the end of the event.

As the band was leading up to the drop of the popular song, ‘A Sky Full of Stars,’ Martin addressed the perplexed crowd by giving them a cheeky comment where he said, “Hold on, we have to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play backstage.”

The fans in the venue responded with cheers following Martin’s statement, sending social media into frenzy. Many expected the Indian pacer to be making his way to the stage, but that was not supposed to be. His comment about one of the most popular Indian cricket stars will be a memory for fans.

Indian’s pace spearhead is coming into this Test from a scintillating show in India’s recent Test tour of Australia. Though the Indian team could not win back the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah’s display certainly got all the right words from both sides. He was being glorified by several retired cricketers and finished off as the top wicket-taker of the series with 32 wickets in the five Tests.

India looked to Bumrah for their breakthroughs, and the fast bowler suffered a back injury late in the final stages of the fifth Test to prevent him from bowling for the final innings. His injury setback is a major concern as the Indian team prepares for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, which holds more importance now that India does not qualify for the World Test Championship final for the 2023-25 cycle.
