CISF saves passenger’s life with CPR at IGI airport

CISF PRO at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport was quick to point out that swift action by two security personnel on duty at the airport was instrumental in saving the life of a man who collapsed due to a heart attack on Tuesday.

It was not until his name was mentioned as Arshid Ayoub that he was found unconscious before the flight to Srinagar was to depart. The event video shows Ayoub collapsing on the floor at the airport. A two-member Quick Reaction Team (QRT) of CISF is always deployed at the site and promptly reacts.

A member of the QRT got into CPR, a rescue procedure that is highly essential for a person who has experienced systole and apnoea. This procedure includes performing chest compressions to carry on blood flow and combining it with rescue breathing to provide oxygen to the lungs.

After the intervention, Ayoub was taken to Safdarjung Hospital and is said to be stable. An official of CISF stressed the quick reaction to the operation, saying, ” A precious life was saved just because our personnel remained alert and took prompt action. ”

Counterterrorism, among other tasks, is performed by the CISF in its principal duty of security at the IGI Airport.
