An ongoing debate between the Trinamool Congress and the BJP has broken out, stating the arrests of two accused in the Rameshwaram Cafe explosions in Bengaluru. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took into their custody the alleged gang master maker Mussavir Hussain Shazib and his accomplice, Abdul Mateen Ahmed Taahaa, near Kolkata. Amit Malviya, one of BJP’s IT cell heads, used a strong argument that Bengal, under the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s leadership, had become a “safe haven for terrorists”. In response, Banerjee defended her state by emphasizing the quick response of the police in the case of the captured terrorist and by questioning the BJP’s performance in the states ruled by the party.
The West Bengal police, on the other hand, denied Malviya’s allegations that the joint law and order forces in the state were actually the state police, while both the central intelligence agencies and the state police carried out the arrests in Purba Medinipur. Transparency has been the main focus in this discussion, addressing the TMC leader Mr. Kunal Ghosh’s compliment on the police for their mammoth efforts which he also called for an investigation into the involvement of the specific family in sheltering anti-then refers. The matter being debated became severe as BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla brought forth yet another charge about TMC aligning with terrorists, referring to a previous attack on the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
As the news spread, the West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose made a clear statement accordingly; he acknowledged that those committing a crime had no where to hide and would be apprehended; whether in India or not. The situation clearly demonstrates the agueing political strains between the TMC and BJP in the light of elections and security concern.
