A Class 11 student is accused of transferring some private photos and videos of a Class 12 student, along with his girlfriend, on his phone in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
A boy studying in Class 12 was arrested for killing his 16-year-old schoolmate after the latter transferred private photos and videos of the accused along with his girlfriend to the accused’s phone without taking his permission, police said.
According to police, the murder was planned out of wrath for the deed. His friend was battered to death with a hammer. After the victim failed to report home on Saturday evening, his family contacted him. His mobile was closed. They even visited the coaching centre. It happened to be shut that day.
Expressing concern over the victim’s safety, the family reported him missing to the police and began their search. Investigations revealed that the victim was last seen with his friend. When questioned, the accused initially misled the police but eventually confessed to the murder.
The accused took the authorities to a place in Bhavanpur, where, beside a tube well beside the river, the victim’s body was recovered by the police. The murder weapon was also recovered from the spot.
According to the police, the absconder had invited his friend to a secluded spot, showing him his phone and claiming he wanted to sell it for Rs 8,000. It has been alleged that after the two spent some time there eating together, he hit the victim with the hammer.
Meerut Superintendent of Police (SP) Ayush Vikram said, “The accused confessed to the crime and said that his friend had taken some personal photos from his mobile phone without permission. This created a heated situation, which eventually turned into a premeditated murder. The accused is a minor and is behind bars. Further investigation is going on to check whether others were involved.”
