A Bihar student found a staggering ₹87.65 crore in his bank account but found it had vanished soon after.
An unbelievable turn of events took a student in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur to become an overnight millionaire when he checked his bank account one day. A report by News18 stated that Class 9 student Saif Ali had gone to a local cyber cafe and decided to withdraw Rs 500 from his account.
When he checked his balance, he was shocked. Instead of a small balance, the account reflected a staggering number — ₹87.65 crore. The number stunned both Saif and the owner of the cyber cafe. Assuming it to be a mistake, they again checked the account balance, but the amount was still the same.
Saif ran home and spoke to his mother about what he saw. With the help of a neighbor, they went to the Customer Service Point (CSP) for a bank statement. But by this time, the ₹87.65 crore balance had evaporated, and just ₹532 remained. His account, however, was subsequently frozen.
The event left Saif and his family baffled, and they went to their bank to report the irregularity. According to the News18 report, the bank officials confirmed that the massive sum had disappeared from the account, and the balance had returned to normal.
The North Bihar Gramin Bank has opened an internal inquiry to determine how such a large amount of money ended up in Saif’s account. The officials at the bank have not explained why it happened or who made the mistake.
