With the national capital witnessing intermittent rainfall during the last 48 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted a significant drop in minimum temperatures across several country regions on Tuesday.
This means North India, including Delhi, will begin the New Year 2025 with other parts of the country experiencing cold temperatures. Northwest India can expect a 3-5 degree fall in minimum temperatures during the next two days.
The minimum temperature over West and Central India will not change appreciably during the next 24 hours, though a drop of 3-5 degrees is expected during the following three days. East India will not change during the next two days and will fall 2-4 degrees thereafter.
Also, two fresh Western Disturbances will likely affect the western Himalayan region from January 1 to 6, 2025, causing light rainfall/snowfall.
The Total December rainfall is now at 42.8 mm, the highest in the last 15 years of IMD data. Officials said that an active western disturbance and its interaction with easterly winds are causing rainfall and thunderstorms in the Delhi-NCR region. Temperatures also dipped to 9.5 degrees Celsius, the lowest maximum temperature in five years.
