Congress blames AAP for Delhi Lok Sabha losses, alleges excise scam

After a recent loss in the Delhi Lok Sabha elections, the Congress turned its firearms on its INDIA bloc ally, the AAP.

Congress leader Abhishek Dutt has said that the party’s loss was due to the AAP government’s policy on the excise scam. Responding to ANI, Dutt said, “When Congress exposed the excise scam, it asked the then government to conduct a proper investigation; ED and CBI did not act for 18 months after filing the case but arrested Arvind Kejriwal, one month before the Lok Sabha polls.”

In continuation of the ranting, Dutt boasted that had Congress not entered the electoral battlefield with AAP; they would have gained more seats. The Congress, he said, lost the Lok Sabha elections because of the Excise scam and pointed fingers at AAP leaders Satyendar Kumar Jain and Manish Sisodia in this regard.

A paper prepared by the Congress further targets AAP minister Atishi, who recently protested, demanding more water from Haryana. Dutt resembled it to drama and said to the minister, “The minister’s job is to give full facilities to people. The capital has no water, and they are acting dharna.”

This is not the first time that the Congress, AAP’s partner in the 129-member INDIA bloc, has fired a salvo at AAP. Later, following the general elections, Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav criticised the AAP government for waterlogging in the national capital during monsoon season.

But AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj has retaliated against Congress, saying, “It is not proper for the opposition to be divided. The local leadership in different states can speak the way they want.

Words alone are battle – the aggressive and hostile forms of the two parties and the leaders of the Congress and AAP, two major players in the INDIA bloc, will not only have consequences in their ongoing conflict but will also affect their future cooperation and coalitions.
