Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, a Congress leader, expressed his lack of confidence in Mamata Banerjee, the Trinamool Congress chief CM and the chief minister, a day after she declared “outside help” in case INDIA bloc emerged victorious in the Lok Sabha elections.
Chowdhury continued by saying that if the BJP emerged victorious in the election, it could be Mamata’s ally. He also accused her of being responsible for the alliance’s falling apart. Mamata Banerjee’s response to Chowdhury’s comments declared her party’s intention of outside support to the INDIA bloc for forming the government at the Centre.
She stressed the point of looking after the people of Bengal and expressed her party’s refusal to support the Congress and the CPI(M) in the state. Moreover, she claimed that both were backing the BJP in Bengal.
TMC, part of the INDIA coalition, decided to contest the Lok Sabha elections in Bengal on its own because it could not agree on a candidate to share the seats after several rounds of discussions.
